Dr Pablo Maroto is a medical oncologist presently working at Hospital Sant Pau, Barcelona, Spain. Dr Maroto finished his fellowship in medical oncology in Hospital Sant Pau in 1996, spending thereafter one and a half years in the Karmanos Cancer Centre in Detroit Michigan.
Back to Spain in 1999, he was appointed staff of the Medical Oncology Service in the Hospital Sant Pau in charge of Uro-Oncology. Since 1999, Dr Maroto has participated in more than 50 international phase I to IV clinical trials as principal investigator. Hospital Sant Pau is one of the top recruiters in Uro-Oncology in Spain, and as a result Dr Maroto has participated as an author in multiple peer-review publications.
Dr Maroto has been fully involved in collaborative national groups (SOGUG, Spanish Oncology Genito-Urinary Group for the treatment of Genitourinary Malignancies and the GG, Spanish Germinal Group for the treatment of testicular cancer, where he was chairman until 2016). Dr Maroto is full member of ESMO (European Society of Medical Oncology), EORTC (European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer, Dr Maroto is presently the secretary of the EORTC Genito-Urinary Group) and ASCO (American Society of Medical Oncology). Dr Maroto has been involved in the development of Spanish and Catalonian clinical guidelines for the treatment of kidney, prostate, testicular and bladder cancer. In addition, Dr Maroto is an associated professor of the UAB, Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, and he participates in teaching of medical students and fellows.
